Mary Kate Jordan brings more than 25 years experience to her astrological counseling and teaching schedule. She speaks of astrology as “the art and science of compassion.” A former student of Alice O. Howell, she brings Jungian, mythic and shamanic perspectives to her work.

This rich matrix led her to also become certified as a hypno-therapist, specializing in Depth Hypnosis, and certified as a practitioner of shamanic arts through the Foundation of the Sacred Stream. Dedicated to exploring “the fine and creative art of waging inner peace,” her astrology, hypnotherapy and shamanic arts practices all spring from this intention.
In the 1980s, she established what was then a small private astrology practice in the Berkshire Hills of western Massachusetts, where she also took several master classes with Jungian Astrologer, Alice O. Howell. That decade, which she also spent as a minister in a non-denominational church, still under-girds her astrological work.

"Astrology is a powerful language," she continues. "Like any power tool, it can be abused." At its best, though, Jordan believes that astrology acts as a spiritual solvent which allows us to consider our lives from a new point of view.

"When used in professional conversation -- or when studied, contemplated, or even simply held in the heart -- astrology is useful for helping a person move from feeling helpless to feeling empowered. Even when circumstances actually are beyond the personality's control.

Every astrologer draws clients who fit specific profiles. Mary Kate's clients tend to be people who are thriving in the world but find that the experience of success hasn't delivered deep joy. "My clients are searching for ways to live more authentically, and to integrate both their experiences of success and their times of suffering with a practical, non-sectarian, yet deeply spiritual world view."

Not everyone fits this profile. "The match between client and astrologer has to be right," she says. "I refer some potential clients elsewhere. My work -- even astrology in general -- isn't right for everyone. There are those I will serve well, and those who are not mine to work with. It's always about relationship."

Mary Kate's practice includes clients from North America and Europe. She travels to speak, offer sessions and teach. She's writing a book whose working title is 'The Holy Grail in the Mirror of the World: Symbol, Psyche and Why Sedna Matters'.
